embracing autumn.

embracing autumn.

It finally feels like fall! I am all about everything autumn-related, from pumpkins and falling leaves to cozy blankets and Halloween. Fall colors are the absolute best. I obviously love golds and mustards for the season, but marsala and burgundy colors also have my heart.

I want every wine-colored piece of clothing in my closet now. The boots and purse here are a beautiful color and go with everything I want to wear these next few months. I love this poncho as well. The shape is cozy and the plaid matches well with a variety of things. As for makeup, I'm leaning toward moodier colors and smoky shades.
Time to snuggle up with a cup of tea and enjoy the season!

ipsy - september/face fashion.

Left to right: Temptu highlighter in Champagne Shimmer, Pixi by Petra brow powder trio, Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! exfoliating cleanser, Liptini special edition lipstick in Scarlet Cocktail, NYX Cosmetics Ipsy eye shadow trio
This will be my last Ipsy review for a while because, hey, I'm abroad! Lucky for me, I'll have a huge pile of pink mailers waiting for me when I get back. Maybe I'll do an Ipsy haul post or something then?!

Back to the bag. I love this month's theme and products! Here are my thoughts:

Face Fashion bag: Yes! I have been wanting Ipsy to do a relatively neutral bag for a while now. This one looks glam and goes with everything. Honestly, I would use this as a clutch on a day I don't feel like wearing a purse.

Temptu Highlighter in Champagne Shimmer: I received a much smaller Temptu highlighter in last November's bag and loved it. I still have that one (in Pink Pearl), but I love this one's color even more. The gold is perfect for my skin tone and the size upgrade is much appreciated. This highlighter blends beautifully on my cheekbones for the coveted healthy glow.

Pixi by Petra Brow Powder Trio: When I first saw the preview for this month, I was most excited about this product. I have been meaning to get a new brow powder for forever (since I've been using one Clinique powder since Day 1 of filling in brows). I love the compact size and assortment of shades. The colors match my brows exactly. New makeup bag essential for sure.

Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser: My $10/month subscription is worth it because of the face cleansers alone. I haven't had to purchase a face wash in a year because of Ipsy. Not only do I get a lot of cleansers, but most of them are all-natural or made with good ingredients and all of them make my face feel great. I love to use exfoliating cleansers like this every few days to scrub off the dead skin and keep my face feeling fresh.

Liptini Special Edition Lipstick in Scarlet Cocktail: As you may have noticed (here or here), I have a thing for red lipstick. This one is the fall version of the classic red. It is a little deeper without being full on classy. I would love to wear it with a nude eye and black liner or with a full bronze eye. Either would look gorgeous!

NYX Cosmetics Ipsy Eye Shadow Trio: I think it is so cool that Ipsy and NYX collaborated! I love NYX products. This eye shadow trio is super glam and includes essential autumn shades. It was made for brown eyes. Plus, it can work for day or night, which I love!

What was in your bag this month? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

best of the lip glosses.

Lip gloss love!
Left to right: Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume, Motives Illuminating Lip Shine in Fashion Week, Liplicious Tasty Lip Color in Black Cherry, Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Fatal Apple, Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Blush
If you read this, this, or this post, you'll know that I have a serious thing with lipstick. I mean, if it wasn't for the sake of variety, I would probably wear red lipstick every day. But it can be fun to switch up colors and finishes. Sometimes I even veer out of lipstick territory altogether and go for a gloss! Lip gloss is great for those days when you want a bit of color or shine, but you don't want your lips to compete with the rest of your makeup look. Here are my top five gloss picks:

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume
This is my go-to everyday gloss. Not only is it the perfect nude for my skin tone, but it also looks flattering with whatever other makeup I have on. I love pairing it with a smoky bronze eye or wearing it with just a bit of concealer and mascara. This is a handbag essential.

Motives Illuminating Lip Shine in Fashion Week
I got this as a gift a few months ago and immediately fell in love. First of all, the packaging is amazing. It comes equipped with a side mirror AND a light that starts shining when you twist the top. It is pretty pigmented for a gloss. I like the nice dose of neon pink that it gives my lips. It is definitely a noticeable color, but with way more shine and slightly less pigment than a lipstick or stain.

Liplicious Tasty Lip Color in Black Cherry
I'll just say it...this is the best tasting gloss I own. Now while I know that I shouldn't eat lip gloss, I really can't help if I accidentally taste a little bit now and again. Seriously though, this gloss goes on smooth and does not feel sticky at all. It also leaves the prettiest berry color on my lips for those days when I want a bit of color without going full on oxblood lips.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Fatal Apple
I usually go straight for lipstick when I'm at the drugstore, but this Revlon gloss surprised me in the best way. I love how pigmented it is. It works great on its own, but I think it is even better when layered on top of red lipstick. It adds the perfect level of shine and doesn't just look like I slapped on a layer of clear gloss. Because it's already red, it amplifies my red lipstick and makes even more of a statement.

Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Blush
I like to think of this as my "professional nude." The mauve pink shade is that ideal your-lips-but-better color. I wear it when I want to look put together and like I'm not wearing too much makeup. It feels very proper and girly. Even though it is such a subtle color, it really does elevate the rest of my makeup and help my lips look amazing.

Have you tried any of these? Would you add any to this list? I would love some recommendations in the comments!

top five fashion flight necessities.

How I travel in style!
Over the past few years (and thanks to this trip in particular), I've become quite good at packing light. However, even though I do try to focus on traveling efficiently over anything else, I always keep in mind fashion and comfort when it has to do with my carry-on necessities. These five things keep me organized, cozy, and stylish during my travels.

1. Eye Mask: This is absolutely essential. I love to block out as much light as possible when I sleep, and an eye mask does exactly that. I love how soft and silky this one is. It also takes up practically no space in my bag, so I never have to worry about squeezing it into my luggage.

2. Wallet/Passport Holder: Organization is key for me. When I'm traveling, I like to know where everything is. This passport holder is excellent because it stores my passport along with any cash, cards, or papers I may need.

3. Blanket Scarf: If I could only pack one thing (besides my plane ticket!), it would definitely be this beauty. This jumbo scarf, which I picked up at H&M a while back, is super soft and cozy. Plus, it works perfectly as a blanket when I decide to get some shuteye.

4. Thick Socks: I don't know about you, but as soon as I get into my seat, the shoes come off. I always make sure to keep a pair of warm socks with me to slip on as soon once I get comfy. They are just what I need to relax and unwind during a long trip.

5. A Cute Purse: Ok, so this purse is a favorite of mine in general. It makes a statement in any outfit and it stores all of my basic essentials for on the plane. I'm all about practicality and style!

What are your fashion must haves when you're traveling?
