my black beanie.

Vintage sweater, American Eagle t-shirt, H&M pants, G by Guess boots, H&M beanie, Aeropostale earrings, Forever 21 belt

Hello hat season! Breaking out my favorite black beanie for this look was such a wonderful moment. I felt so cozy with it on, so I decided to amp up the warmth with an oversize wool sweater. To me, this outfit just screams fall weekend. Whether you're going for brunch, a walk around town, or to do a bit of holiday shopping, this ensemble will keep you cozy and comfortable the entire time. Of course, I think it looks pretty cool too. Then again, I may be a bit biased :)

ipsy november 2016.

What a stellar assortment!
My Ipsy November bag is such a winner. It has all the essentials that will help me start off the holiday festivities on the right note!

The Bag: Gorgeous! I love the blue and gold combination. The star charm on the zip is pretty and matches perfectly with the lovely makeup constellation designs on the bag itself. I'm a major fan of stars and space, so this was right up my alley.

Bon Vivant Botanical Pure Masks: I've seen Ipsy include mask packs in a variety of past bags, even though I personally have only received them once. Getting an assortment this time was such a perk. I love that each of them are aimed at different types of skin, since my skin changes based on the weather. Can't wait to test these out!

Elizabeth Mott Color is Bae Liquid Laquer in Red Chili: Elizabeth Mott has done me well in the past. I used up her black sparkle liquid liner in no time. This red liquid lipstick looks 100% opaque and is a perfect true red. I'm hoping it lasts a while during the day.

theBalm Cosmetics Mad Lash Mascara: I have a lot of mascaras, I'll admit. But this one by theBalm looks like a curl lover's heaven. The wand is super curvy and the formula looks very black. This will be great for dramatic winter eye looks.

Formula X Nail Polish in Huntress: I love when a color is more gorgeous in person than it is online. This polish looks like a dark green chrome on the Ipsy website but appears as a green/black/blue/gold medley up close. I'm in love.

Ofra Cosmetics Banana Powder: This was the only miss for me this month. I use powder, but not often enough that I need a new one every other month. I'll hold onto it and see how it goes though.

What did you get this month? I'm excited to rock that red lip!

skinny jeans + ankle boots.

Forever 21 cardigan, TJ Maxx top, H&M jeans, Mudd boots, Forever 21 rings, Sephora by OPI Leaf Him at the Altar nail polish

Skinny jeans and ankle boots has been my go-to fall outfit formula as of late. On days when I can't be bothered to think about what to wear, this combo is on standby. The best part is that there are so many ways to tweak this look. I love the slightly modern boho feel of this mix of skinny blue jeans and printed boots, but I also love pairing dark denim with fringe booties or biker jeans with moto boots. There are so many possibilities!

On another note, how cute is this nail polish name? Leaf Him at the Altar is one of my favorite shades of green.

the color mustard.

American Eagle leather jacket and denim jacket (underneath), TJ Maxx shirt, H&M pants, gifted scarf, Mudd boots, gifted socks, Aeropostale earrings, Burberry glasses

First of all, can I just say how much I love this jacket? I've worn it potentially too much recently (like here and here). It's the perfect layering piece though, so I don't really feel bad about repeating it so much. #sorrynotsorry

That isn't my main focus this post, but I noticed the jacket in some of my recent pictures and felt the need to mention it.

Back to the point: these pants. I feel like a lot of people are love/hate on the color mustard. Personally, I used to hate it. Not only did I dislike the way it looked in outfits, but I was also turned off by the color in general. That was until I discovered this sweater. Since then, I've done a complete 180 and fallen in love with the yellow-toned hue. You know it's love when it ranks close to oxblood, perhaps my all-time favorite shade to wear.

I scouted out these pants in Italy at the beginning of this year. I own the same ones in black (although the construction is slightly different on these new ones), and love them. Of course, when you really love something, you either wear it to death, buy multiples, or both. That was me with the black pants. So now I have them in two shades and I couldn't be happier.

Plus, mustard pants go excellently with leather jackets :)

autumnal essentials.

autumnal essentials.

Putting together this look gave me a massive urge to go shopping. It's to be expected, I guess. Autumn is the season that embraces all of my favorite colors, from rich oxbloods and burgundies to golden mustards and deep forest greens. Perfection!

I'm in love with this sweater. From the cut-out neck details to the gorgeous knit and draped waist, everything about it has me sold. Of course, I'd have to pair it with some super fitted distressed black skinnies. The contrast between tight denim and baggy sweaters is ideal for fall dressing. Throw on a wooly plaid scarf and a tough leather (or pleather) jacket and you have the formula for the perfect autumn outfit.

ipsy october 2016.

All the Halloween feels with this bag!
Happy Halloween! I thought today would be perfect for my Ipsy October review, since the bag is so on-theme. Here we go!

The Bag: I love that the Ipsy team paired up with an illustrator for this bag. The pictures are super cute and pop nicely against the soft pink.

Noyah Natural Lipstick in Currant News: First of all, can we appreciate how apt the name is? Props to whoever came up with that one. The sample size is admittedly tiny, but I love the natural composition and deep berry color. It applies lighter than it looks in the tube. I'll be getting use out of this one during the next few months!

theBalm Cosmetics CabanaBoy Blush: Another tiny product, another gorgeous color. I love the moody mauve color. It's perfect for the cooler season when I want to get that warm flush. We'll see how I manage with picking up product from the tiny square though.

Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker Fragrance Rollerball: I was so happy when I saw this was coming in my bag. I'm a major SJP fan and have been wanting to try out her fragrance. It is a light, natural floral that is ideal for everyday use. This is one of those perfumes that I can throw on for any occasion.

Essence Cosmetics Superfine Waterproof Eyeliner Pen: I know this isn't the most high end product, but it's probably the one I was most excited to receive. I'm almost out of my Starlooks liner pen (good pigmentation, not the best point), so I'm in need of a new one. The point on this Essence pen is super fine, which means it will be a dream to apply.

Preventive Measures 101 Lips 101 After Hours: Let's just call this what it is: chapstick. It may be branded as an overnight lip treatment, but I'll be using this at all hours just like any other lip balm I own. Not the best thing I've ever gotten in my bags, but still a practical item.

leather jacket season.

American Eagle leather jacket and shirt, Wet Seal scarf, Abercrombie & Fitch jeans, Dolce Vita boots, gifted earrings

Tis the season! The season for layering and leather jackets that is. I'm all about the crisp fall weather and cozy outfits that go along with it. I recently broke out my leather jackets and scarves and have been so happy with that decision. You just can't go wrong with a leather jacket thrown over pretty much anything and a pair of boots to match.

Throw in a steaming cup of coffee and a slice (or two) of apple pie, and this girl's in autumn heaven.

gray day.

American Eagle jacket, Abercrombie & Fitch shirt, H&M jeans, Converse shoes

The chill has officially arrived. Part of me is excited about the fact that I can wear scarves and leather jackets again. The other part is wrapped up in my pajamas wishing to never leave the house. But hey, there's pumpkin spice and apple pies again, so I can't really complain.

I love cozy cool outfits like this on overcast days. It probably has to do with my love of dressing for a theme, but I always want to wear grays and moody colors when the skies fill with clouds. Also, layering a slouchy crewneck under a heavy layer jacket pleases me to no end.

Cheers to the season!

shop my closet on poshmark.

This skirt is up for sale!
Have you heard about Poshmark? I started using it recently after doing a massive closet purge. I was looking for a way to give my clothes like the skirt above, plus this skirt and these pants) a new home and this seemed perfect! So far, the app has been easy to use and is a convenient way to clear out my wardrobe. I love that I can pass my clothes that are still in good condition to someone who will get more use out of them than I will. I'm all about reducing and reusing!

Check out my closet on Poshmark to shop!

denim high.

Aeropostale shirt, Abercrombie & Fitch jeans, Cosmopolitan flats, Burberry glasses, gifted earrings

Happy autumn everyone! I'm in full autumn mode right now. From painting my nails and dressing in shades of burgundy, mustard, and forest green to baking everything pumpkin-related, I'm embracing the season wholeheartedly.

Not that you'd know by this outfit! To be fair, it is still relatively warm here, so I just recently started reintroducing jeans into my wardrobe. Speaking of jeans, these ones are high-waisted to the max. I love them! They are so stretchy and comfy, and I plan to wear them with everything these next few months. Floral crop tops now, boxy sweaters a month from now...you get the picture.

love me some overalls.

American Eagle overalls, American Apparel shirt, Converse sneakers, Vintage pin

I took these photos a few weeks ago, back when summer was in full swing. There's just something about denim overalls that screams summertime to me. I love how casual and comfy they are. Plus, they pair well with practically everything. I'm a big fan of this girly classic look. You can't go wrong with red lipstick and Converse, no matter what the season.

So don't be surprised if you see this combo again in a few weeks as cooler temps arrive :)

ipsy september 2016.

Denim + makeup = love.
This month's bag feels very back-to-school. Maybe it's the denim bag or the fact that the products are all glammed up naturals, but it all feels very right for September.

The Bag: Honestly, I'm not in love with it. The quality is definitely improving, but the design is not up my alley at all. Also, in comparison with some of the past few bags, this one feels like a downgrade.

Naked Cosmetics Advanced Aloe Cream: Yet another moisturizer. I like the packaging, but I've received nicer moisturizers than this from Ipsy. Not in love with it.

Seraphine Botanicals Guava Butter: I didn't think I'd like this product at all when I saw it in my sneak peek. It looks much nicer in person though, and I'll definitely be wearing it this fall. I like it better as a lip color than a cheek shade.

Dirty Little Secrets Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Teaser: I was so bummed when I saw this product online. I was not into the color at all. When it arrived, I realized that it will work well as a base color this season. It's a warm, basic tan that I can layer under other shadows. Don't love it, but don't hate it either.

Two Faced Lip Injection Extreme: This is admittedly a cool product. However, I already have quite full lips. I would have liked to have received a different high end product over this. I'll still try it out and see how it goes!

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask: On the one hand, I'm not over the moon about receiving another hair mask after just getting one in my August bag. On the other, I love Briogeo products and will absolutely use this mask. I used the Luseta one from last month's bag already and am obsessed with how soft it left my hair. If this Briogeo one is anything like that one, then I'll be one happy camper.

How did your September bag turn out? This was a bit of a disappointment for me compared with the past few bags. Looking forward to October!

a visit to Boston.

Striking a pose like Mr. Adams.
Hey Boston, you're pretty.
Hanging with Paul.
Freedom Trail foot shot!
#RoosterLove - posing with my Chinese astrological sign.
All the love for Boston's Public Library.
At the same time I left for Italy last year, the vast majority of my friends migrated to Boston. Hence the start of my yearlong desire to go to the famed Massachusetts hotspot. This summer I finally made it over to one of the most history-packed cities in the U.S. I had an amazing long weekend of exploring, eating, and catching up with friends. Highlights included visiting the Boston Public Library, exploring the sights along the Freedom Trail, tasting the marvelous clam chowder at Faneuil Hall, drinking down some iced liquid chocolate at L.A. Burdick, and spending the entire day at a beach just outside of the city.

All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better mini-vacation. Lots of love for Boston!

one hundred sequins.

Abercrombie & Fitch jacket, The Classic shirt, Urban Vibe shorts, Tommy Hilfiger sandals, gifted earrings, Forever 21 rings

One hundred sequins is likely a close estimate for the number of sparkles on this shirt. I love sequins, they can prove challenging to wear outside of the holiday season. Pairing them with dark colors and lots of denim was my way of toning them down without losing their shine. The gold sandals and rings are a nice way of weaving the glitter throughout the whole outfit. In other words, the perfect formula for everyday glam.

technicolor flowers.

Route 66 cardigan, H&M tank, Vanilla Star jeans - converted to shorts, American Eagle sandals, Two Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Melted Fuchsia, Forever 21 rings, gifted earrings

I'll never be the type of person to shy away from color. More often than not, I'll make a bright shirt, lipstick, or shoe the focal point of my outfit. Or, if I'm really feeling it, I'll embrace color full on and incorporate it into every part of my look.

Case in point - this ensemble is all about neon brights. From my pigmented liquid lipstick and technicolor shirt to my sweet blue sweater and metallic pink shoes, strong hues are the name of the game. It is summer, after all. What better time to channel the rainbow?

mad for plaid.

Aeropostale dress, American Eagle purse, Converse sneakers
This plaid dress was such a steal, and I absolutely love it! I found this on clearance and am so glad I got it. The fabric is light and flowy and perfect for breezy summer days. I love pairing it with casual sneakers and bright red lipstick (although that should come as no surprise). These Converse are made of metallic leather, giving them an unexpected polished edge. They're my go-to sneakers!

california vintage.

Who.A.U. shirt, Forever 21 skirt, Unionbay sandals, Betsey Johnson sunglasses

This shirt isn't vintage, but it certainly feels like it. I've had it forever and it continues to get softer and sweeter with every wear. I love dressing it up with proper pieces like this ballerina skirt (also very well loved). The overall look is "casual pretty," and I'm all about it this summer season.
